Congratulations!
You are a conjurer. You have turned that idea sparking and smoldering in your head/heart/soul into words. It might not be perfect, but you've given it form, and that kind of work is magical. I hope you are basking in the glow of it, celebrating with your beverage of choice, or a quiet bubble bath, or maybe even crazy-running through streets and fields with your arms thrown out to embrace the world. Me, I breathe differently when I've finished something big, and I try to hold on to how good that feels for as long as possible.
But now what? From my lifelong experience in the arts, I know the answer is Back to work. It's time to cut and polish that diamond. And after you've worked at that for a good long while (yes, longer than you had planned) it is time to have someone else look at it.
I want to help you.
It is a lifelong passion of mine to help others find their voices and speak their minds. Years of working with words and with music have taught me to seek out clarity, accuracy, and beauty while preserving the unique voice of the artist.
I specialize in fiction, personal essays, blog posts, and poetry, and offer both proofreading and copy editing services. (Proofreading checks basic grammar, spelling, and punctuation; copy editing is more in-depth and includes proofreading as well as edits for clarity, continuity, and ease of reading.)
I am a member of ACES: The Society for Editing, and completed the Poynter ACES Certificate in Editing in October 2018.
Please message me about your project and time frame, as well as to get an estimate: kbkubin@outlook.com.
